Don't miss out on this amazing fish tank. I rarely write reviews, but I almost didn't buy this because there were only two reviews, and one was negative. I set this up myself, taking my time in under 90 minutes. The directions were as easy to follow as any other furniture on Amazon. The hardware was solid. Could be installed tightly without fear of stripping. Mostly hex bolts. This feels solid - metal and wood furniture - way safer than Kallax particle board on the precipice of imploding at any given moment.Incredible value, having scoured the internet. You're going to need a real piece of furniture at >8 lbs/gallon, and there aren't a lot of options without spending real money. This piece looks fantastic and feels very durable. I love metal and wood, but I was nervous about bringing this into a very old contemporary living room. Even with the X cabinet door and the modern design and materials, it's somehow not ostentatious and fits in very well. Focus isn't stolen from the aquarium. The LEDs are a fun touch for your favorite child or home nerd. The storage setup is perfect for supplies, keeping things looking tidy, while still easily accessible and functional.Although the Android app to manage the light strip has bad ratings, it was incredibly easy to set up and worked perfectly. I'm still exploring alternative apps via Bluetooth to connect with home automation. The remote control also works like a charm if you don't need anything fancy.I installed the power outlet backward, facing into the shelf, which keeps things tidier. A power strip for additional outlets was added to the top right shelf. I'm going to mount it to the ceiling over the shelf, but it's not an eyesore. You don't see that far back without trying, and it doesn't get in the way of the LED lighting sitting behind it, either. USB ports work great and are powering my tank lighting. When you set up the LEDs at the beginning, orient yourself on how the cabinet pieces come together. If you go too far to the right, the power adaptor will be smashed. Err on "too far" to the left, and you'll have about a centimeter of LED strip that you can just peel back when you install the side panel and let curve around the corner. You won't see it, and it probably improves the lighting.Pay attention when you're installing the top hinge of the door. Make sure it's in the right direction and that you're recessing it correctly as you slide the bottom of the door into place. It's the most annoying part, but once you figure it out, it's easy. Also, the screws into the back panel corners, securing the panel to the cabinet, were slightly more frustrating than others I've installed. Make sure the little plastic feet are tucked in well, and continue to shove in/realign as you screw them with a little elbow grease.Highly recommend. When the time comes to expand, definitely going to purchase their wider version.
