I use two, one on top and one on bottom for full circulation. The downside is the cord is way too short. If you have electric outlets sitting at the level where your tank is it should be okay but if you have outlets sitting on bottom section of your stand then you will need extension cord. For this inconvenience I take off 1 Star.Works is as designed. Has almost zero noise and the magnetized base allows me to position or reposition for best effect.
